Designed for Cyclists and Triathletes
THE AEROW’s wind tunnel in Bad Wörishofen, Bavaria, sets new standards in aerodynamic optimization for endurance sports. Built according to the Göttingen design, the wind tunnel is independent of external environmental conditions, allowing year-round use. Specifically designed for cyclists and triathletes, a specific component layout enables an economically viable operation exclusively for endurance athletes. To enable realistic riding, the bike is clamped on some kind of indoor bike trainer allowing power outputs of up to 1,200 watts.
Measurement data like in Formula 1
While the wind tunnel is designed for cyclists and triathletes, its measurement accuracy rivals that of a Formula 1 wind tunnel. The central component of the tunnel is the highly precise 6-component scale from RUAG, providing real-time flow data. Measurements of flows can be conducted at speeds of up to 120 km/h, and side wind simulations are possible up to 45°.
But that’s not all: In addition to pure aero optimization for cyclists and triathletes in the wind tunnel, we also offer product developments. CFD simulations are also possible, determining the optimal aero construction. Thus, all developments are handled by qualified hands as needed.
Energetically and ecologically with high standards
In terms of construction, we have also placed special emphasis on sustainability: The building consists of a chemical-free full wood wall system. Energy is obtained from a photovoltaic system, covering about 95% of the required energy needs along with its water storage.
